Glastonbury festival line-up 2021

In early December, Live Nation’s president said his expectation was to return with big outdoor shows for the summer. Now, there are doubts about those ambitious plans, especially in Europe, where one major festival has already been canceled, and one of the summer’s major metal festivals, Hellfest, is in danger of being canceled as well.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo said he wants to start testing large-scale events in the city as soon as the winter of 2021 passes, in the hope that rapid testing will expand enough to hold outdoor events in the summer.

The announcement was greeted with regret within the music industry. Sacha Lord, co-founder of the Parklife festival in Manchester (northern England), today called the cancellation “another setback” for freelancers working in the industry.

“Just as this is a setback for consumers, the team behind it and the artists, I can’t help but think it’s another setback for the thousands of freelancers working (in the industry),” he said in a tweet.

Worthy Farm lies in a valley at the source of the Whitelake River, between two ridges of low limestone, part of the southern edge of the Mendip Hills. The area suffered in the past from several floods, although after flooding during the 1997 and 1998 festival, the drainage was improved. This did not prevent flooding during the 2005 festival, but allowed the flood water to recede within hours.[4] The Highbridge branch of the Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway ran through the estate on an embankment, but was dismantled in 1966 and now forms a main track through the site.[5] Another notable feature is the high-voltage power line that crosses the site from east to west.
